What's included
- Talk therapy sessions with licensed therapists
- Psychiatric consultations with board-certified psychiatrists
- Crisis support, 24/7
- Pediatric and adolescent mental health support
- Family coverage: spouse + up to 5 dependents
How it works in practice
An employee or family member opens the app and selects therapy, psychiatry, or crisis support. They're matched with a provider and book directly. Visits are entirely virtual. No copay is collected. The encounter doesn't generate a claim on the group plan, so utilization stays private from the employer.
Out-of-pocket therapy ranges $100–$250 per session. A typical user of weekly therapy ($150 × 40 sessions) saves $6,000 per year. Even moderate utilization (10 sessions/year) saves $1,500.
How it integrates with existing coverage
Complements any existing EAP. Higher-touch and higher-utilization than typical EAP benefits; tends to take pressure off the group plan's behavioral health line.
Limitations
Being honest about what the benefit doesn't cover is more useful than pretending everything is included:
- Not a substitute for inpatient psychiatric care
- Controlled-substance prescribing for psychiatric medication follows state telehealth rules
- Long-term, specialized therapy (DBT for severe BPD, EMDR specialists, etc.) may still require in-person providers through the group plan
